From Bangkok to the Sing’

#In every disco I am in…#

So that’s Thailand done. After an epic 24hr journey through Malaysia we arrived in Singapore. I would recommend anyone take a trip to Thailand, it’s a great place. All the Thai people we met were real friendly and glad to have us there. It was unfortunate that some just assumed that we, as Brits, just wanted to drink and try to score with girls. Of course this is rubbish – sometimes we played frisbee.

So we got off the bus in Singapore and went to a taxi guy intending to go to the hotel. “Where you want to go?” he said. We looked at the print off of the reservation. “Uh, Geylang.”

He told us where we needed to go and went back to his taxi buddies. There was an exchange of words, I caught “Geylang”, and then they all started laughing. I thought this to be a little odd.

We find the hotel and it seems nice. Having got used to sharing rooms with mice and cockroaches (I called it Calvin after we caught him) to be in a hotel was a bit swish. We got some rest before deciding to take an early evening stroll. Walking out of the hotel we were greeted with quite a sight. A large number of scantily clad women who I’m sure are not here for the good public transport and agreeable climate. Yes, taxi driver funny man new we were smack bang in the middle of a red light district. Oh well, when in Rome…

Ko Phi Phi

Dude, I gotta go Phi Phi! So that’s where we are.

We went to Phi Phi Leh, the island made famous by the film The Beach. It was just the three of us on a longtail boat and the driver guy stopped a few times to let us swim and snorkel. Speaking of which, listen up everybody, I have an important news announcement to make…

CANNON BALL!!

This is ‘the’ beach.

The dude said it was 200 Baht each to go there so we said,”Screw it, just stop here and we’ll swim to our own beach.” So we did:

Also did some more climbing. Rosey fell off whilst lead climbing which was pretty cool. He was undamaged though, which was ashame.

Here is R and L snuggled up real close in the mosquito net. “Number 5 – Invisible!”

Since it’s the last week in Thailand, I decided it would be fitting to punish my liver. The other two reluctantly agreed. We went out and were enjoying the ladyboy show when a girl walked past who looked a little familiar – a little too familiar. The three of us looked at each other, until the light bulb went on, “It’s that girl from the plane!” Yup, the hot girl from the plane. I got the short straw and was sent up to talk to them. It should be fairly obvious where this is headed…

Truly, she will make great wife.

Carry on Thailand

I’m still here.

We’ve been in Railay. I’m fairly sure it should be called Is-Railay. There’s lots of holidaying Israelis. It seems there’s never a good time for my ‘two Palestinians walk into a bar’ joke.

We did some rock climbing, which was proper bo, I tell thee. There’s quite a wacky backy culture that goes with it, it seems, and we were a bit worried about how many special cigarettes our instructor might have had before putting our lives into his hands. It was unfounded though as the chap was just happy and laughed regardless of any mind altering drugs. His name was Khop and he was an amazing climber.

We also climbed up 1,237 steps up some mountain or other (near Krabi town) to see a Buddha statue on top. If there’s one thing Thailand is big on, it’s Buddha.

We’ve moved down to Ko Phi Phi, a place that’s being rebuilt since it got decimated by the Tsunami. Rented a TriYak today (essentially a kayak but for three) and took to the oceans blue. We went off to claim some land for Queen and country, but I didn’t have a flag to stick in the ground. Whilst on our maiden voyage the sea turned rough and the thing flipped. It was proper dangerous, all our supplies, the oars and us were the sea. Lewis and Rosey set the thing upright and I swam about for the flip flops. Unfortunately the current dragged our water bottles away too quickly, and we had to abandon them. By now they’ll probably be floating past Phuket.

I will finish with a nice sun set picture taken by the Big L.
